When should I start talking to a kitchen designer?

It's best to start talking with a kitchen designer as soon as you can. It's important to learn as much about what's involved at an early stage. It's impossible to know what's truly possible without speaking to a professional. Getting the right advice from the start will save you time and frustration later on.

One word of warning though. The large High Street retailers work on a commissioned salary structure. As a result, the aim of their staff is to sell you a kitchen as quickly as possible. And they use lots of sophisticated techniques and strategies to achieve that goal. The term given to this is "Taking you out of the market". Please don't fall for any "hard sell" tricks. You should never feel under pressure to buy and it's wise to shop around in the early stages of a project.

Are your kitchen cabinets flat pack?

No, we don’t sell flat pack kitchens. All of our kitchen cabinets are fully constructed, solid units that arrive ready to be installed straight into position. Built for strength, durability, and a perfect fit, these rigid cabinets save time on site and ensure a higher-quality finish compared to flat pack alternatives.

What does your kitchen design service include?

Our Kitchen Design service commences with an in-depth consultation to comprehensively understand your kitchen requirements. This consultation serves as an inspiration for our designer to generate tailored ideas that align with your preferences and aspirations. Upon concluding the initial consultation, if you wish to proceed further, our designer will commence crafting a bespoke design that precisely reflects your vision. This process includes an initial measurement of the space to ensure accurate dimensions.

Once we have finalised the initial design, we schedule a design presentation in our studio. Typically, the initial presentation focuses on layout and spatial design, with a reduced emphasis on colours, worktops, and appliances.

Subsequently, the design process enters a second round of development, where the ideas are refined based on your feedback during the first presentation. With the layout generally agreed upon, the selection of colours and finishes becomes the primary focus. At this point, we also conduct a comprehensive cost breakdown to ensure we're on budget.

The design process remains fluid and collaborative throughout, allowing you to specify your requirements as per your preferences. The finished design is only finalised when you are completely satisfied. Additionally, we will return to your home for a final measurement, which is crucial if you have undergone building work in the interim.

Once all parties are satisfied and prepared to commence construction, we will order the necessary furniture and components for an agreed-upon installation date.

Can you meet my budget?

We always recommend clients divulge their budget at the very beginning of the process. However, you'll be amazed how few kitchen buyers have a budget in mind at the beginning. That's totally understandable, you don't renovate a kitchen very often. If you do have a figure in mind, we can guide you on the best way to achieve the desired result. If we don't believe we can provide you a solution within your budget we will say so. The last thing we want to do is waste your time.

In the majority of cases, we can adjust finishes, suppliers, or features to target specific financial limits so that you are equiped with all the tools to prioritise your budget to the areas that matter most to you.

Can you Project Manage my kitchen installation for me?

Absolutely! At Your Space Living, we offer a comprehensive project management service that takes care of every detail — from the initial design through to final installation. We coordinate all trades, schedule the work, and ensure everything runs smoothly and on time.
