German kitchen in Indigo Blue and concrete effect

A beautiful kitchen is only half the job. Mr and Mrs Rees-Morgan wanted a room that felt as good to live in as it looked. They wanted that balance between style and genuine function. This shaped every decision in this German kitchen design. Gloss finished indigo blue cabinets run through the tall and base units, contrasted by a textured grey stone-effect finish on the wall units above the hob. The deliberate contrast in colour and texture has become a defining trend in contemporary kitchen design of late. The Corian-topped island continues the theme, with handleless Crystal Grey doors, an integrated wine cooler and a raised breakfast bar finished in concrete effect.

The room was built as part of a home extension, with a clear brief: create the perfect space for entertaining friends and family, balancing cooking, dining and relaxing all in one area. Jo built stud walls specifically to house the cabinetry precisely, along with a ceiling-mounted bulkhead to create zoned lighting for genuine mood and effect. This is the kind of "behind-the-scenes" structural thinking that turns a good looking kitchen into a genuinely classy, minimalist space guests love to gather in.
