Working closely with a local building company, Jo and the team were commissioned to design a contemporary kitchen in a genuinely compact space that also had to accommodate a dining area and a reading corner overlooking the garden. The client, with a career of their own in the design industry, wanted more than a functional room. They wanted a contemporary focal point that would actually spark conversation.

The result contrasts a striking Elica Pearl recirculating extractor fan against a bold, dark handleless colour palette in Lava Black. This combination created exactly the kind of confident, inspirational kitchen the brief called for. Mr and Mrs Evans didn't shy away from going dark despite the room's modest footprint, This was a decision that took real design confidence. It's easy to assume small spaces demand light colours to feel open. But Mr and Mrs Evans were happy to challenge expected norms in order to create something unique to their tastes.
