Mr and Mrs Evans loved their three-storey Whitchurch townhouse, but not the first-floor kitchen at the front of the property. Especially with young children desperate to get out into the back garden. The brief was ambitious: redesign the entire ground floor to fit a cloakroom, utility, kitchen, dining and living space. All this into a house built to be tall rather than wide.

Jo Buckerfield took on the whole project, from initial design through to project managing the building work and installation. All while meeting a strict set of local authority planning requirements. This included a cloakroom in line with the house's original specification, fire safety doors, and significant structural support for the two floors above. It's exactly the kind of regulatory complexity that a genuinely experienced project manager needs to navigate properly, rather than treating as an afterthought.

The finished Pronorm kitchen in Onyx Grey with Denver Oak sits beautifully alongside a traditionally styled Rangemaster range cooker, with decorative brick-pattern tiling adding a real touch of class. The result gives this young family exactly what they were missing: a genuine connection between kitchen, dining, living space and garden.
