Open plan living in Porthcawl

This beachfront apartment in Porthcawl needed a complete refurbishment, but the project was about much more than simply replacing the existing kitchen and furniture. Our client, Juliet, wanted to create a home that worked better for the way she lived, particularly her love of cooking and entertaining. We therefore looked at the entire living space and considered how even relatively small changes could make a significant difference.

Working within the restrictions of apartment living, we explored alternative layouts and proportions between the kitchen and living areas. The resulting changes were modest in terms of measurement but transformative in terms of how the space feels and functions. Pronorm cabinetry in Textured Bronze and Sherwood Dark Brown creates a warm, sophisticated kitchen, with a combination of X-Line and Y-Line handleless units providing a clean, contemporary look suited to the compact space.

The finishing details were equally important. Bronze X-Line C Channels provide an alternative to conventional black or stainless-steel detailing, while the Dekton Trillium worksurface adds durability, texture and a distinctive matt finish. The result is a highly practical open-plan living space that feels warm, elegant and personal, while making the most of the apartment's wonderful position overlooking Porthcawl beach.
