Open plan multipurpose kitchen in Newport

Mr and Mrs Cook were adding an enormous extension to their Newport home and needed a designer who could turn all that space into somewhere they'd actually enjoy. They didn't just want a bigger kitchen. The wanted a genuine multi-purpose room for cooking, eating, working and unwinding, all in one.

That kind of brief is where thoughtful zoning matters more than any single product choice. We blended sixties-inspired chic with contemporary design to create distinct, comfortable zones within one open-plan space: a reading corner for Mrs Cook to relax with a book, a striking dining area nearby for entertaining. Additionally, on the kitchen side of the room, a clever drop-down worktop that transforms into a fully functional desk when needed. The result makes the most of the extension's large windows and abundant natural light throughout the day.
