Orangery extension with a German kitchen in Llantwit Major

Jo and the team were commissioned to design and build a contemporary kitchen within a brand new orangery extension. This was a wide, light-filled space that needed a genuine focal point, not just cabinets filling a room. To complement the natural light pouring in from the giant skylight above, we contrasted soft light aqua cabinets with dark wood-effect end panels and uprights, finished with Silestone Kensho worktops and contemporary Miele appliances.

It's tempting, after the significant cost of an orangery extension, to claw back budget by compromising on the kitchen inside it. The Billingtons resisted that temptation, choosing German cabinetry specifically for its reputation for genuine, lasting quality. The photographs in the gallery bellow were taken five years after the original installation, and the room still looks every bit as good as the day it was fitted.

That's the real argument for investing properly in a kitchen rather than cutting corners. A well-designed, well-made kitchen isn't a cost that fades with time, it's an investment that keeps paying you back in the way it looks and performs, year after year.
