Rear extension project in Church Village South Wales

Being brought in from the very start of this two-floor rear extension gave Jo Buckerfield the chance to do something most kitchen companies never get near: actually shape the architecture itself, not just fill the room once the walls were already built.

Looking at the original plans, Jo spotted an opportunity many designers could miss — replacing a flat ceiling and side-wall window with an angled ceiling and three Velux roof windows instead. That one change freed up an entire wall for an uninterrupted run of kitchen units. This change delivered far more practical storage. In addition Jo had the opportunity to create a design that delivered cleaner, sleeker lines. Whilst the new Velux windows filled the new open-plan shaker kitchen with natural light from above.
