Shaker kitchen in shades of green

Mr and Mrs James were undertaking a considerable single-storey rear extension. The new space included a spacious kitchen, dining and relaxation area, plus a brand new utility room. With the family's garden overlooking rolling Welsh countryside, Jo Buckerfield designed the kitchen specifically to complement that view. The result was a bespoke combination of soft greens and solid oak accents that brings genuine understated elegance to a rural setting.

One detail stands out as a great example of forward-thinking design: a handmade oak slatted seating area built into the new utility room. This is among the earliest examples of the boot-room trend Your Space Living has gone onto fit for many more families. It's totally bespoke to Mr and Mrs James, turning a purely functional space into somewhere you'd genuinely want to leave your wellies with pride.

This was a genuinely collaborative project, with the family fully invested in every decision as the design evolved. The result is a beautiful family kitchen with real countryside character. Proof that a design-led process, built around real conversations with the client, produces rooms that feel entirely personal rather than off the shelf.
