Shaker kitchen with a spectacular view of South Wales

Having already trusted Jo to design their kitchen and two bathrooms as part of one carefully budgeted multi-room renovation, Mr and Mrs Wallace knew exactly what they wanted from the kitchen itself: something spectacular, yet understated, in a classic style that would still look right in fifteen years' time, not just the next few.

That brief led to a classic shaker kitchen in simple ivory, built to order in the UK to Jo's exacting standards. Every cabinet is made by British craftsmen, giving the room a quality of construction that's genuinely visible up close, finished with NEFF appliances and a striking granite worktop in Bengal Black.

The real star of the room, though, is what lies beyond it. Hensol sits just north of Cardiff, surrounded by some of South Wales' most beautiful countryside. The kitchen was designed specifically to make the most of it, bringing the outside in and using the view itself as a genuine design feature, rather than an afterthought surrounded by wall units. It's proof that even the most timeless, classic kitchen design still needs a designer's eye for the room's wider setting, not just the cabinetry within it.
