Stylish bathroom renovation in Boverton

This historic cottage in Boverton, near Llantwit Major, deserved a bathroom that respected the character of the building while bringing it firmly into the modern day. Our clients were keen to preserve the charm of their home, but the existing bathroom was cramped and poorly designed. A false ceiling concealed unused space, while a wall around the bath restricted access and made the room feel smaller than it really was.

With an open brief and the freedom to explore a completely new direction, we developed a series of layouts before settling on a design centred around a contemporary freestanding bath. Removing the restrictions of the old layout allowed us to reveal the timber roof structure and retain the exposed stone wall as key features. The roof structure was clad in oak, giving it a fresh finish while maintaining the warmth and character of the original cottage.

Calacatta marble-effect tiles and ceramic oak flooring provide a sophisticated backdrop, complemented by Medina Soft Green hexagonal tiles within illuminated niches. Traditional-style sanitaryware and chrome brassware add a timeless quality. Carefully mitred tile edges and meticulous installation complete the transformation, creating a bathroom where historic character and contemporary design work beautifully together.
